Fitness

  • The 3,000 Walking Club (Beginners)

    The 3,000 Walking Club is a 30-40-minute walking group with low-impact physical activity for seniors to get together to enjoy the physical and mental benefits that come from walking and social interaction and engagement. This beginner’s walking group is a tremendous opportunity to promote and improve your health and wellness on multiple levels. (2xs a week)

  • The 7,000 Walking Club (The experienced walker)

    The 7,000 Walking Club is a 60-90-minute walking group with low, med and high-impact physical activity for seniors. This class includes a more detailed focus on pace and stamina. This walking group is a tremendous opportunity to promote socialization while improving your balance, breathing and leg strength, and overall wellness on multiple levels. (2xs a week)

  • The Balance-Leg Class

    The Balance-Leg Class aims to improve one’s physical ability for balance but also to decrease one’s fear of falling. Bal-Leg is designed to assist with sciatica symptoms. This class will include a series of walking patterns and obstacles to alert the mind and steady the body of potential walking hazards on sidewalks and city streets. Instruction will also include leg extensions, stretches, strengthening low back muscles, and lumbar stretching. The Bal-Leg class will also help with strengthening legs and standing ability. (Open to all standing/walking abilities)

  • Full Body

    Full Body targets all the muscle groups to efficiently and effectively promote muscle growth and increase bone density.

  • Enhanced Fitness

    A strength, balance and fitness program for adults 65 and older. Performing exercises that improve strength, balance and overall fitness.

  • Sit Down, Get Down

    A functional aerobic workout that is done using a chair to either sit or use for balance. Designed to be a challenging workout for everyone that will increase your heart rate, burn calories, and build strength. Taught by the YMCA.

  • Yoga

    Including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practiced for health and relaxation.

  • Line Dancing

    A group-based exercise program for adults designed to target the timing and coordination of walking. It teaches you to move your body, improve your balance and how to maintain your own balance while moving to the beat.

  • Tai Chi

    A series of gentle physical exercises and stretches. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion. Tai chi is sometimes described as meditation in motion because it promotes serenity through gentle movements — connecting the mind and body. Taught by the YMCA.

  • Stretching

    Stretching Helps our bodies feel and act younger for a longer period of time. Helps mobility, due to more lengthened and supple muscle fibers, allows our body to stay in top shape for a longer period of time

  • Cardio Boxing

    Uses a shadowboxing with continuous cardio movement that will increase your strength and teach you to control your heart rate.

  • Cardio Dance

  • Cardio Lite

  • Strength and Resistance

Food & Nutrition

  • Cooking Class

    Our nutrition instructor walks participants through each step of the cooking process for delicious and healthy meals to make at home.

  • Daily Lunch

    Each day Hayes SWC is open, we offer free in-person lunch service from 11 am to 1 pm, in addition to grab-and-go bagged lunches.

  • Medical Moment

Activities

  • BINGO

    Play BINGO, socialize, and enjoy some fun competition.

  • Card Club

    Card Club is an opportunity to socialize and enjoy your favorite card games.

  • Game Day

    Enjoy a rotating selection of board games, including old favorites like Connect 4, Monopoly, and more.

  • Club Memory

    Club Memory is a space for anyone seeking to improve mental acuity and cognitive skills. We go through a series of mental activities designed to help you maintain cognitive function.

  • Painting

    Enjoy art and refreshments while creating a masterpiece! Each week we’ll explore a different genre of art and create a new painting. No experience required - our instructors will take you through every step of the painting process.

  • Movie & Popcorn

    Wind down and relax with a movie and popcorn. We show a new title each week!

  • Word Search Mania
